A bunk bed is a type of bed in which one bed frame is stacked on top of another. The nature of bunk beds allows two people to sleep in the same room while maximizing available floor space. This leads to them being used in places with limited floor space, such as on ships and in army garrisons or in places that wish to maximise bedspace such as: dormitories, summer camp cabins, hostels, children's rooms, prison cells, or university residence halls.
Bunk beds are normally supported by four poles or pillars, one at each corner of the bed. To get to the second bunk a ladder is used, though taller children often find other faster, more creative methods of climbing into them. The top bed is normally surrounded by a railing to prevent the sleeper from falling out, and some models also have a privacy curtain for the lower bunk. Because of the need for a ladder and the height of the bed, the top bunk of a bunkbed is not recommended for children under six years of age.
The most common type is the standard bunk bed which has two same size mattresses stacked one directly over the other. A twin over full bunk bed is arranged as a standard except that the bottom mattress will be a full size and the upper will be a twin size.
All bunk beds below are not included the mattress.
C
hair is a raised surface used to sit on, commonly for use by one person. Chairs often have the seat raised above floor level, supported by four legs. A chair without a back or arm rests is a stool, or when raised up, a bar stool. A chair with arms is an armchair and with folding action and inclining footrest, a recliner. A permanently fixed chair in a train or theater is a seat or airline seat; when riding, it is a saddle and bicycle saddle, and for an automobile, a car seat or infant car seat. With wheels it is a wheelchair and when hung from above, a swing.
The design may be made of porous materials, or be drilled with holes for decoration; a low back or gaps can provide ventilation. The back may extend above the height of the occupant's head, which can optionally contain a headrest.
A chair for more than one person is a couch, sofa, settee, or "loveseat"; or a bench. A separate footrest for a chair is known as an ottoman, hassock or pouffe.

Furniture placement in feng shui is a key element in directing the flow of Chi. When placing furniture it is important not to block, interfere, distort, or force the flow of Chi. You do not want to cram furniture and accessories into a tight space. It needs breathing room. Raise beds, chairs, and couches at least a few inches off the floor. This allows Chi to move freely. Putting the minimum in the room is the best approach. Position the furniture so it has a good view of the entryway. This goes for couches, desks, sink, stove, chairs, beds. If there isn't a way to achieve this then place a mirror so you can see the entry. This way it protects you from suprises. There should be at least three feet of space between furniture. This goes for a night stand next to the bed and a couch and the coffee table.
Accessories can add a personal touch to any room. Place frequently used items at eye level so you may reach it when necessary. Pictures should be placed so that when sitting down they are not too high above eye level. When hanging big pictures, they should be hung over a large piece of furniture.
Arranging your furnishings a certain way can bring forth good fortune into various aspects of your life. Here are a few suggestions to certain areas of your life:
--Health:
Place the colors green, black, and red in the east part of your home. That is where the sun rises at your house. Put images of the following in this area also: streams, trees and fish ponds. Adding a plant or organic accessories, with bright lights will be good to add to this area.
--Children and the Family:
This is the area that the sun sets in your house. This is the west. The best colors to use for this area is white, dark blue and yellow. Family photos, toys, awards, crystals, stones and round shapes go great in this area.
--Fame:
This is the south part of the home. This could also represent the area of the home that gets the most natural sunlight all day. Colors are red and yellow. This is a place to put objects that represent you. Photos of yourself, your awards and trophies. Wood objects, and electrical appliances are good for this area. If you do not have a place in your home that gives out natural sunlight then you can create your own with lights and heat.
--Business:
This is in the north end of your home or near the main entry. Use dark blue, white, black or gray colors here. Place irregular shapes and metals like gold, copper and bronze. This is the area that putting your phone, desk and computer is good.
--Love:
The farthest right-hand corner from the entry of any room or the southwest of the house. Use earthy colors like brown and yellow, or the Fire colors such as pink and red. Metals and stones are great. You can also put crystals, romantic objects and photos and still water in this area.
--Money:
The southeast or the far left of the entry of any room. Use the colors green, red or black. Accessories to use are round-leaf plants. To add to the plant or pot tie a red ribbon around it. Place three coins under your plant. Items to keep out of this area are coffee pots, storage items, electrical appliances and pointy plants.
--Travel and friends:
This is in the northwest. This is where you can place your luggage, travel posters and brochures. Other accessories can include angel items, rocks, or crystals. The best colors to use are silvery white, light blue and turquoise.
--Knowledge:
This is in the northeast. The best colors are white, gray, red, yellow and brown. Use earthy materials and metals. This is a good place for books, notebooks, computers and an office with all the equipment.
Just keep in mind to arrange furniture for coziness, comfort and good conversation. Achieve this by making sure there is empty space for Chi to flow.

Size of the Room
First you need to know the size of the rooms you are going to be furnishing, right down to windows, and walls that might not work well. You can either purchase a piece of software that will help you design a cozy room or grab a pencil and paper and start sketching. If you have any original pieces you are keeping, then make sure to work them into your room plan.
Once you've decided what would look good where, and how large of furniture you can purchase, you need to set your budget. Decide how much money you are willing to part with and stick to it.
F
urniture for the Family Room or Living Room?
Once you know how much your going to spend you'll be able to decide on the type of furniture. Determine the type of use the furniture will get. Are you buying furniture for a family room or a living room? If your buying for a family room you're going to want to look at furniture that's built to hold up with high use. If your buying furniture for your living room, and it's more of a show room then you might look at fancier, less functional furniture.
When deciding on the type of furniture also take into consideration your lifestyle. Do you have pets that are going to claw or chew? Do you have small children? Is your home air conditioned? Leather is a great example of a piece of furniture that looks good, but can be downright uncomfortable in the hot weather, unless you have air.
M
ake a List when Furniture Shopping
Once you've narrowed down what you're in the market for, make a list itemizing each piece you're looking for. Include sizes that will work, color preferences, all the fine details. You'd be surprised at what you'll forget once you walk into the furniture store. It's easy to get distracted because of all the choices. But with list in hand you'll be prepared.
C
hoose Furniture to Last
Make choices that will last you for years. Don't choose trendy furniture that you'll be tired of in six months. Furniture is a big investment, so keep your tastes in check and choose furniture that will look and feel good for years to come. You can add some trendy small ticket items such as vases or wall decor. Keep your furniture colors easy to work with. That way you will be able to do a room face lift just by changing out small ticket items, like pillows, ornaments, and wall art.
T
est Your Choice of Furniture
Once you've found that perfect piece of furniture, get physical with it. Check the construction of it, watch for low quality assembly. If you buying a couch or bed, sit on it, move around on it, see if it fits your body well. Check to see if you can feel springs, if the buttons are attached well, if the seams are finished properly. Don't take any piece of furniture at face value, get underneath and check the entire construction of it.
Once you've made your choices, all that's left to do is pay and wait for delivery. If you have old furniture in the room, it's easier to dispose of this before the new furniture arrives. Prep the room, so that when the delivery guys arrive they can place the furniture where it belongs.
Stress free furniture shopping can be accomplished with just a little bit of pre- planning. Now all that's left to do is enjoy your new room!
